Metal Dice Can Damage Your Playing Surface 

Metal dice can definitely damage your playing surface if you’re not careful. This can be easily avoided if you’re a careful roller. However, if you are careless with your dice, you may see scratches, dents, and even smudges on your staging area. 

Metal dice are also able to damage any figurines which you have on the playing surface. Hence, make sure that you exercise control and caution when you play with your metal dice set. At our table, dice trays are mandatory!  

Metal Dice Don’t Roll As Far

Another criticism of metal dice is that they don’t roll as far as plastic dice. This typically an issue for people who think the randomness of a die is a result of the number of times it rotates across its surfaces. However, what truly determines a die’s randomness is its balance. So, while rolling a die across the room or table for dramatic flair might be fun for some people. Just know it has very little to do with the randomness of the results.
